2 DAYS TSAVO EAST SAFARI

Dubbed the ‘Theatre of the wild “Tsavo West and Tsavo East National Parks form one of the largest national parks in the world covering a massive four per cent of Kenya’ total land area. Tsavo East, the larger of the two, lies to the East of Nairobi-Mombasa road, halfway between Nairobi and Mombasa. It is dominated by thorn bush land with Galana Rive flowing through and bordered by the Yatta plateau, the longest lava flow in the world.The park is known for its largest herds of the famous ‘red’elephants.The parks is accessible through mtito Andei, Voi,Bachuma,Manyani,Ithumba or Sala gates.

Major Attractions.

Elephants, Aruba dam on the northern banks of the seasonal Voi River, is a popular drinking hole for wildlife. Mudanda rock, the enormous rock towers above a natural dam, which draws elephants and thousands of other animals. Yatta plateau, the longest lava flow in the world stretching 300km. Lugards fall named after Captain Lugards the first proconsul to East Africa, the falls feature bizarrely eroded rocks through which the waters of the Galana River flow over foaming rapids and crocodile-infested pools.

Wildlife

The park is famous for its large animals such as vast herds of red dust-coated elephants, leopards, hippo, crocodile, waterbuck, and lesser kudu, gerenuk and Hirola.The prolific bird life feature 500 recorded species.

Day 1: Tsavo East

Pick up from the hotel at around 6.00 am driving along Mombasa- Nairobi highway for 100 kms and a stopover for coffee. Proceed for 6 kms to Tsavo East (The largest park in Kenya which covers an area of 13,747 km2) and arrive at Bachuma. Begin the Kenya Safari game drive en route to Aruba Dam (A water hole where animals come to drink water).

Physical attractions include Tsavo River, Yatta Plateau which is 300 km2, Mdanda Rock, Lugard Falls, Voi seasonal River and Aruba Dam. You have also a chance to see animals such as red elephants, rhinos, leopards, cheetah, and giraffes among others. Proceed with the game drive to Voi Safari Lodge or Ashnil Aruba Lodge where you will check in at around 1.00 pm. Have lunch and relax till 4.00 pm after which you will start another Kenya Safari game drive till 6.30 pm then back to the lodge for dinner and overnight (Voi Safari Lodge or Ashnil Aruba Lodge).

Day 2: Tsavo East - Diani

Wake up at around 5.30 am, have a cup of coffee and start an early morning Kenya Safari game drive before breakfast. This time you have a chance of seeing the big cats of Tsavo. Back to the lodge for the main breakfast at around 8.30 am followed by the last game drive and lunch at Voi town. Drive back to your hotel.
